Dandelions & Rust

Featuring Alexandria DeJoy

Alexandria DeJoy (@alexandriartist) is a multidisciplinary artist living and creating in Fort Collins, Colorado. She enjoys working in several mediums, including: acrylic and watercolor painting, pyrography (wood burning), glass lampworking, and silversmithing. She uses bold color motifs and organic forms inspired by nature in her artwork and jewelry designs.

Alexandria is self-taught in glass lampworking, the art of shaping molten glass over a flame. Using a dual fuel torch, she melts colored glass rods to create beads and pendants. She then crafts jewelry and accessories that bring a pop of color and whimsy to the wearer. Each glass creation becomes a unique piece of wearable art.

Her work is an outward expression of her gratitude to nature, the elements that make her work possible, and all of the beauty and magic that flora and fauna bring to our lives.

Featuring Patrick Dunford

This juried exhibition of Larimer and Weld County artists celebrates the broad creativity in our Northern Colorado community. Juried by Beth Venn, Executive Director, Neltje Center for Excellence in Creativity and the Arts, University of Wyoming.

In our small Vault Gallery, MoA is showcasing Patrick Dunford (@patrick_dunford). After moving with his family to Moorhead, Minnesota, a year and a half ago, Dunford found himself returning to the Great Plains region of the Red River Valley after eleven years away. Upon returning to the Plains — or the Prairies, as they are known in Canada — Dunford became newly captivated by the region’s vast expanses. What had once appeared to him as an uneventful and even monotonous landscape now revealed a dense network of human-made and natural features across its mostly flat terrain.

A list of the 64 Celebration of Colorado Artists can be found on the Museum of Art website.

Otter Shop

Featuring Carolyn Knape

I consider the works of Dali, Picasso and Van Gough strong influences in the development and evolution of my own painting style. Capturing life and composition, I focus on color dynamics, linear composition and cohesiveness.

I classify much of my work as “structural abstract impressionism”. Mostly an oil painter, enjoy custom work; abstracts, city scenes, street scenes, structures, still life, pets, boats, cars, homes, etc. Can match different materials and requested colors. I gallery wrap or frame all my paintings, also enjoy mosaic work.

Marked by Fire is our featured show for the month of July that showcases new ceramic work by local potter, Gus Waneka (@waneka.pottery).

This collection was created in his home garage studio, right here in Fort Collins, where each piece was made and glazed by hand. These new pieces celebrate the unpredictability of atmospheric firing, where flame, heat, glaze, and kiln atmosphere shape the final surface. These processes leave marks that can be guided but never fully controlled, creating work that is alive with variation, depth, and discovery.

Featuring cups, bottles, face cups, lamps, and vessels, we invite viewers to experience ceramics shaped by hand, transformed by atmosphere, and marked by fire.

Featuring Dominique Montano

Dominique Montano (@montano_art) is a wildlife artist and educator from Fort Collins. She focuses on highlighting animals and nature in an attempt to illuminate the dangers threatening the world around us. A master’s graduate at Colorado State University focusing on zoology and comparative physiology, Dominique has always been fascinated with the incredible diversity of animals and how they operate in the world around them. Many of her subjects feature dripping or fading areas, alluding to the pressures of human-wildlife conflict that deteriorate the ability of nature to thrive in their environments, as the subjects mix into the background.

An interest in animals and comic books at a young age led to a convergence in interests. Illustrating the wildlife she is enthralled by is an opportunity to bring a small amount of that same fascination to the viewer. Focusing on animal movement and the duality of nature allows her passions to coalesce, utilizing an academic career in zoology to strength.
