Tenney Court

Location: Tenney Court

Completion: 2006

Completed in 2006, Tenney Court was named after Rollin Q. Tenney, a surveyor and water engineer in Fort Collins in the early 1900s.

BHA Design designed the improvements for this much-traveled pedestrian connection between the Civic Center Parking Structure and many popular shops and restaurants on Mountain Avenue and the Opera Galleria in Downtown Fort Collins.

The improvements enhance the character of this once-unattractive alley and provide an opportunity for adjacent shops to add access and windows. Pedestrians now safely and comfortably arrive in style through an attractive, artistic passageway filled with overhead festoon lights, hanging baskets, painted murals and transformers, and colorful flower displays.

Several muralists are featured in the alley, including local Chris Bates of Fort Collins and Armando Silva, a mixed media painter, muralist, and illustrator based in Greeley. Silva created a 40’ piece in collaboration with the non-profit Trees, Water & People, called Colores de la Comunidad, in 2020.
