Metta Musical Journey with Michael Kimball

Join Cleveland Institute of Music’s Professor of Guitar, Dr. Colin Davin, and University of Northern Colorado anthropologist and meditation teacher, Michael Kimball, in the Fort Collins Museum of Discovery’s Dome Theatre for a 360-degree “Metta Musical Journey” redux! This event was standing room-only when it debuted in 2020, just before the pandemic hit. Now, it is returning to support and celebrate our individual and collective re-emergence into the light of social interaction.

Buddhism’s 2600-year-old Karaniya Metta Sutta reveals a meditation practice aimed at dissolving the boundary between “self” and “other” to conquer fear and restore connection with the world. “A Metta Musical Journey” will feature a short talk on relations between this Sutta and our personal experiences of re-emergence, music provided by guitarist Colin Davin, Dome Theatre imagery, a guided metta meditation, and ensuing brief discussion.
