Guest Artist Concert: Basil Vendryes, Viola, and William David, Piano / FREE

Basil Vendryes has been principal violist of the Colorado Symphony Orchestra since 1993. He is a former member of the San Francisco Symphony, the New York Philharmonic and the Rochester Philharmonic orchestras. As violist with the Aurora String Quartet (1986-95), Vendryes performed extensively, including recitals in New York, London and Tokyo.
After a distinguished forty-year career as faculty member at Iowa State University and founding member of the Ames Piano Quartet, William David retired and moved to Colorado in 2012. Since his relocation he has performed with members of the Colorado Symphony and faculty from Colorado State University, University of Denver, and the University of Wyoming.
The concert includes performances of sonatas written or arranged for viola and piano by David Tcimpidis (2004) Sonata, Eric Ewazen (1991), Libby Larsen (2004), and Ivan Sokolov (2005), as well as Marek Harris’ Dance Suite (2002).
