National news media recently reported that personal identity data of 2.9 billion people may have been compromised in a security break affecting National Public Data, which is a background check company. We are sure to witness an increased number of incidents of different types of Internet frauds and scams that can possibly be attributed to this breach. This talk delves into this issue and discusses steps we can take to reasonably protect ourselves and recover if we fall victim to an identity theft.
