Join Liz Ortiz of Mad Hare Press for a Thursday evening of Piñata Making!
Piñatas are more than vibrant decorations; they embody joy, unity, and the heart of celebration. Deeply rooted in Mexican culture, they represent the communal spirit of gathering together to revel in life's festivities.
In this workshop, you'll get a brief introduction to the cultural history of the Piñata and learn various Piñata making techniques.
Liz Ortiz will guide you through:
Cultural History: A brief overview of the significance of Piñatas.
Techniques: Instruction on using paper mâché vs. recycled cardboard methods.
Workshop Highlights:
Materials Provided: Each participant will receive a blank premade Piñata.
All Necessary Tools: All necessary tools and materials will be provided for use during the workshop.
No Experience Needed: Whether you are an artist, crafter, or appreciator of art, this workshop is sure to be fun!

About Liz Ortiz:
Liz Ortiz of Mad Hare Press is a Fort Collins-based multidisciplinary artist specializing in various printmaking methods. She holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) with concentrations in Photo Image Making and Printmaking. Liz's expertise includes intaglio, lithography, woodcut printmaking, and analog black and white photography. She now focuses on accessible printmaking methods, particularly relief block printing using hard linoleum blocks. Liz's hand-carved images are printed on archival cotton paper and textiles, showcasing her mastery and passion for the craft.

Minimum Age Requirement: Suggested minimum age is 10 years.
Minors 10-17 years must be accompanied by a parent/guardian.
Parent(s)/guardian(s) must sign liability waiver(s) for any minor and must be present for the entirety of the workshop.
Ticket price will increase day of for in-person purchases as long as tickets are still available.
