Intro to Relief Printmaking:
Linocut Block Printing
At this event you will get an introduction to the printmaking method of Relief Block Printing using soft linoleum blocks, acrylic ink & cotton rag paper.
Workshop will include instruction on:
• printmaking tools
• image transfer from sketch to block
• carving techniques and safety
• how to print your hand carved block
Each participant will receive 2 blocks of soft linoleum and archival cotton paper for 2 relief prints.
If you have been wanting to learn a method of printmaking this is the workshop for you!
There is no drawing or printmaking experience necessary.

Artist Bio:

Liz Ortiz of Mad Hare Press is a Fort Collins based multidisciplinary artist, who specializes in various printmaking methods and techniques.
Liz holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) with concentrations in Photo Image Making and Printmaking. She is skilled in intaglio, lithography and woodcut printmaking methods as well as analog black and white photography.
Currently, Liz focuses on accessible printmaking methods with relief block printing being her current chosen method. She uses various block surfaces but mainly uses hard linoleum (Lino) blocks to create relief prints. Each image is hand carved on one or multiple Lino blocks and hand printed on various surfaces including archival cotton paper and textiles.
