Brennan Mackey, founder of King Cardinal, moved from Chicago to Denver on a whim, leaving behind a finance job to pursue music. His debut album, 'Great Lakes,' features raw roots rock with elements of cosmic country and folk, showcasing the band's exceptional musicianship and emotional depth. Initially a solo project, King Cardinal evolved into a full band, gaining recognition and performing at the Telluride Bluegrass Festival. The band recorded 'Great Lakes' in Texas with GRAMMY-winning producer Ted Young, capturing live performances in seven days. The album reflects themes of adventure, nostalgia, and the longing for freedom, with songs evolving through the contributions of each band member. Mackey's leap into the unknown has paid off, solidifying King Cardinal's place in the Americana music scene.

Sarah Anderson and Paul DeHaven's musical partnership began in 2004 and led to the formation of Heavy Diamond Ring after the disbanding of Paper Bird. HDR's sound blends open-hearted folk-rock with rich vocal harmonies. Led by Anderson's smooth vocals and DeHaven's guitar, the band is described as "open-road, long drive music" with "a little bit of twang, and a whole lot of beef." The band includes Blake Stepan (bass), Mike Lang (keys), and Orion Tate Ignelzi (drums). Their second LP, "All Out of Angels," produced by Ben Wysocki (the Fray) and Mark Anderson, features a duet with Nathaniel Rateliff and is out this fall on Cowboy Cowabunga Recordings.
