Huipiles of Guatemala: Heritage and Tradition will be presented from 6-7:30 pm Thursday, Jan. 18, at the Global Village Museum of Arts and Cultures. The program will explore the symbolism in traditional Guatemalan blouses that provides us insight into the daily lives of the indigenous Maya and what they have experienced as a marginalized people. Tickets to the presentation are $5/person, and reservations are requested at globalvillagemuseum.org. The program is in conjunction with the Museum’s Hall Gallery exhibit, Master Weavers Collection, showcasing 10 handmade huipiles. The Global Village Museum is located at 200 West Mountain Avenue, and Museum hours are 11 am to 5 pm Tuesday through Saturday.
