Foods of the Winter Solstice will be presented from noon to 3 pm Saturday, Jan. 20, at The Cooking Studio Fort Collins. The fun cook-and-consume class has been organized by the Global Village Museum of Arts and Cultures in conjunction with its Main Gallery exhibit, Fire and Light: Winter Solstice Traditions. Working with professional chefs, participants will prepare the meal and then savor their creations. The menu will consist of: Wild Mushroom and Goat Cheese Crostini; Celery Root-Potato Purée; Seared Beef with Juniper Berries, Rosemary and Cabernet-Brandy Reduction; and Pomegranate Frangipane Tart (which contains almonds). The chefs will assist with culinary skills and cooking techniques, and all food and cooking equipment will be provided. Free take-home recipe packets will also be available. Registration to the class is $100/person, and reservations are required by Friday, Jan. 12, at globalvillagemuseum.org. As the class is limited to 16 people, early registration is encouraged. Persons with allergies or food restrictions should email Sophi at admin@globalvillagemuseum.org. The Cooking Studio is located at 123 N. College, Suite 130, on the main floor of the Opera Galleria in Old Town. The Global Village Museum is located at 200 West Mountain Avenue, and Museum hours are 11 am to 5 pm Tuesday through Saturday.
