Details
Suspicious characters, dancing puppets, and missing diamonds? Jeepers! A ghost is haunting the Old Barn Theatre, but with an inheritance at stake, the show must go on. Only one person can solve this mystery: teen sleuth Nancy Drew is on the case! Investigating with her best friends Bess and George, she soon discovers that not everyone is who they say and not everything is as it seems. Join Debut Theatre Company this October as they bring Carolyn Keene’s classic to the stage for audiences of all ages.
First published in 1930, The Nancy Drew Mystery Stories include 175 novels, have sold over 80 million copies and have been translated into 45 languages. The books follow teenage sleuth, Nancy, who is known for her sharp mind, keen observational skills, and willingness to take risks to uncover the truth. The novels were written by a number of ghostwriters and all published under the pseudonym Carolyn Keene. This production brings together elements from two beloved Nancy Drew stories, The Mystery at Lilac Inn and The Clue of the Dancing Puppet.
The Debut Players, DTC’s signature troupe, is made up of 17 actors from the ages of 13 to 18 who audition to enter. United by their love of the theatre, the Players not only perform, but they are also responsible for every facet of the production including publicity, props, set, costumes, lights and sound. They perform at The Lincoln Center every May & October. Recent productions include Anne of Green Gables, The Fall of the House of Usher, James and the Giant Peach, and Robin Hood.
Celebrating its 34th year, DTC puts classical stories on the stage by young actors for family audiences. Co-founded in 1991 by Lee Osterhout-Kaplan and Gregg Osterhout, Debut Theatre is Northern Colorado’s only year-round, nonprofit, youth arts organization that prioritizes hands-on learning in a troupe-structure environment. This unique approach fosters an environment where students collaborate and work as a team, problem-solve, think creatively, and communicate effectively with their fellow actors. “Theatre for young people, by young people” is more than just a motto- it encompasses our belief that learning is best done by doing and that every individual’s contribution is valued, regardless of the size of their part.
Join Nancy Drew and friends this October at The Lincoln Center for a mysterious and thrilling adventure!
