About the book:

A Home for Steamboat is a story about a horse with an unbreakable spirit. Widely known as the symbol of Wyoming, the bucking bronco's silhouette has been a symbol on the state's license plate since 1936. He was cared for as a foal by a loving family and then later sold to a wealthy ranch owner. His cowhands tried to break the young horse, but the born bucker had a mind of his own. Steamboat could not be broken. He was sold again, this time to a man who felt a kinship with the horse's strong will and independence. Steamboat had finally found his true home. Based on the famous horse's life, A Home for Steamboat will inspire young cowboys and cowgirls to never give up.

About the author:

Casey Rislov was in her early teens when she fell in love with the cowboy life. Her friends took her horseback riding for the first time at the base of Casper Mountain. Riding bareback was both thrilling and terrifying, but she learned that it takes great courage to go after what you want and to be who you want to be. One of the best rides of her life was becoming an author and sharing her love of books. Learn more about Casey’s 8 award winning books at caseyrislovbooks.com.

About the illustrator:

When Zachary Pullen moved away to begin his career in New York, he never thought he would return to his home state of Wyoming. The state tugged at him and his family, and they have been back under the big blue skies of Wyoming since 2006. He finds inspiration for his art at each bend in every dirt road. His illustrations have garnered starred reviews since first being published in 2004, and he has been honored several times with acceptance into the prestigious Society of Illustrators juried show and the Communication Arts: Illustration Annual.
