This month's featured artist is Jim Dossett.

Jim began restoring and repainting vintage toys shortly after retiring from a career in education. Inspired by a collection of old Tonka trucks that he and his sister played with as children, he decided to bring them back to life through restoration. As word spread, friends and former classmates began providing additional trucks and toys for him to refurbish.

Along the way, Jim connected online with a former toy store owner in Canada who became a valuable mentor, sharing restoration techniques, repainting advice, and tips of the trade. Over time, Jim developed a special focus on creating restored police vehicles for law enforcement officers and their families.

His process is refreshingly simple: “Just a workbench, a trusty Dremel tool, hand tools, lots of vinegar, spray paint, and patience.”

Through his work, Jim preserves cherished memories while giving classic toys a second life.
