In March 2025, President Donald Trump stirred headlines when he remarked that Lesotho is a country “which nobody has ever heard of,” eliciting laughter from Congress. Far from unknown, this tiny highland nation — the world’s only independent country entirely above 1,000 meters elevation — is affectionately known as the “Kingdom in the Sky.” Located entirely within South Africa, Lesotho is home to 2.3 million people, a vibrant cultural heritage, and nearly fifty years of partnership with Colorado State University and Fort Collins.

Join us on Tuesday, August 12 at 6 PM to learn why Lesotho deserves recognition, not ridicule. You’ll hear how this mountain kingdom has forged enduring ties with CSU, supported global health initiatives, and contributed educational and cultural richness to our community. Don’t miss this chance to turn the spotlight on a remarkable nation and grow your global perspective right here in Fort Collins. Registrations are encouraged. Admission is $10 and light refreshments are included.
