East Myrtle Street Alley

Location: East Myrtle Street Alley

Completion: 2024

Constructed in 2023, the East Myrtle Street Alley is located on the east side of S. College Avenue between E. Myrtle Street and E. Laurel Street, one block east of the Colorado State University (CSU) campus.

This alley block is particularly vibrant due to its proximity to the CSU campus and houses a diverse mix of commercial properties and businesses along S. College Avenue. These considerations inspired a whimsical, eclectic, and playful “Artifact” themed alley.  Drawing inspiration from this community patchwork, the design is brought to life in a fun visual manner. Even the brick paver pattern is designed to look like a patchwork quilt pieced together. Local artifacts and activities are “woven together” via unique metal art installations that celebrate the people and passions of Fort Collins. Happening upon these colorful “found elements” makes the journey of walking through the alley as exciting as reaching your final destination.

When the sun goes down, the alley is teeming with visual interest. At the E. Laurel Street entrance, illuminated CSU Ram horn benches, light projection, and Tivoli lights welcome you to explore more. Toward the alley’s center, a colorful blanket of LED lights dances and twinkles above you.
