The Bas Bleu Theatre Company (BBTC) opened in 1992 with the objective of presenting quality productions in an intimate "salon" theatre. Since its first outburst of creative energy from two imaginative risk-takers, artistic director Wendy Ishii and her earliest collaborator Eva Wright, Bas Bleu has produced, performed, exhibited or hosted over 600 events for a total of more than 1,600 performances serving more than 100,000 patrons and involving over 4,000 artists, performers, writers, designers and technicians.
Both the Theatre Company and Gallery Bleu are housed in the historic Gidding Building at 401 Pine Street. We continue to select bold and adventurous works that both entertain and inform as well offer post-show discussions with panels of practicing artists and local experts in fields related to production content.
Our programs share laughter and pathos, while exploring the diverse cultures and common values that strengthen a sense of community on the Front Range of the Rocky Mountains.
