The Summit at Colorado Brewers' Festival
Beer Geeks Unite! On Friday, June 23rd, we’re welcoming the weekend by rolling out the red carpet for aficionados at this Friday night kick-off specialty tasting affair! The Summit at COBF features unlimited tastings of 40+ rare and special-release beers from some of Northern Colorado's finest breweries.
Beneath Washington Park’s lush tree canopy, the brewers themselves will mingle, play host and delight in pouring your beer. The COBF is an iconic beer festival,” says Steve Kurowski, marketing director for the Colorado Brewers Guild. “We’re excited to join forces with the fest for this intimate experience for Colorado craft beer lovers. We are asking our brewery members to dig deep and bring something very special, something they typically don’t serve at public events.”

2016 The Summit @ COBF Beer List and Descriptions
1933 Brewing Company
Coffee Chewbaca Porter - Beastly yet softhearted. A rebellious blend of specialty malts will bring out your inner wookiee and will wake you up with a touch of locally fire roasted Sumatra coffee from Woodchip Coffee. ABV 6.3%
Black Bottle Brewery
Cuban Missile Crisis – Imperial Rotgut Bourbon Barrel Stout. ABV 18%
Boulder Beer Company
Dude's D'Spare Imperial Stout - The third release in the barrel-aged Dude Series, this beer uses a blend of specialty malts for a dark chocolate, roasty flavor with hints of black licorice. Aging in first-use Cabernet wine barrels adds depth and brings out soft fruit flavors and subtle oakiness. ABV 10.0%
Bristol Brewing Company
World Peace Death Ray Imperial IPA - Instead of palate-crushing hop and alcohol levels found in many imperial IPAs, this beer is a tasty treat for the hop loyal that embodies just a bit more finesse. Checking in at a relatively friendly ABV, this imperial is citrusy, pungent and robust, combining an abundance of hops with a malty backbone. ABV 8.0%
C.B. And Potts
2015 Irascible Zipper - An American Style Barleywine
Pickleball - A pickle-spiced IPA
Cooper Smith’s Pub & Brewery
The Mischievous Monk- A playful invitation of dark fruit and bubblegum aromas excite curiosity, while a peppery spiciness and warming alcohol sensation provide contrast to the rich malt flavors. ABV 10.3%
Elevation Brewing Co.
2015 Arete - Arete is a single hop Barleywine featuring Centennial hops. Generous amounts of two-row malted barley and crystal malts build the base of this age-worthy Barleywine. Dry hopping with Centennial adds yet another complexity and a brightness that blurs the line between an English and American Barleywine. ABV 12.58%
Bearcrusher Russian Imperial Stout - This dangerous Russian Imperial Stout was created by our lady behind the scenes, Lianna! Clocking in at a whopping 10.75% ABV, Bearcrusher has been known to turn you into a crushing machine. A few sips of this dark, rich, robust stout and you might find yourself with a huge case of beer muscles. Be careful though, if you crush too many of them you might just become that crushed bear we’re talking about! ABV 10.75%
Fort Collins Brewery
Scarlett on Brett - A complex aroma of pineapple and stone fruits originates from a primary Brettanomyces fermentation. A juicy mouthfeel is created by a high mash temperature and a complicated malt profile resulting in an array of tropical fruits, mild earthiness, and subtle tartness.
The Last Polka – A collaboration between Fort Collins Brewery & Black Bottle Brewery, this beer clocks in at a 6% ABV that is both full-bodied but very sessionable. German malts and German hops are balanced by piney Columbus hops, followed by very heavy late additions and a dry hop of new German varietal, Hüll Melon, which gives way to honeydew and strawberry aromas and flavors. ABV 6.0%
Horse & Dragon Brewing Company
Honeydew Belma Session IPA- A firkin of a newly-created Session IPA that plays with a new hop (Belma) and honeydew additions.
Jagged Mountain Craft Brewery
Sakura Matsuri Cherry Wheat - An American Wheat Ale brewed with puffed amine rice from Asia and 110 pounds of Montmorency Cherry juice concentrate (the equivalent of 325 pounds of fresh cherries!). The jasmine rice gives the beer a light spiciness that complements the sweetness of cherries. The beer pours a hazy light pink color reminiscent of cherry blossoms.
Paria Belgian Pale Ale – Lemon, pineapple, grapefruit and bright crisp citrus dominate the palate in this summer patio pale! Dry hopped with Azacca hops giving it a lively and aromatic nose, and slightly spicy from the Belgian yeast followed by a clean dry finish. ABV 5.2%
American Sour Ale w/ Peaches & Apricots - Tart and refreshing with a fresh peach and apricot flavor. Perfect for enjoying warm summer afternoon on the patio or in your backyard. ABV 6.7%
New Belgium Brewing Co.
La Folie Wood-Aged Sour Ale- Aged for 1-3 years in French Oak foeders, La Folie is sharp and sour, full of green apple, cherry, and plum-skin notes. ABV 7.0%
Odell Brewing Company
Zard-Alu Sour Apricot- Apricots are thought to be native of the Persian territory, where they were commonly referred to as a Zard-Alu. These precious stone fruits were so highly revered that they were often used as a commodity in the markets. The stones were not to be wasted, much like this brew. Apricots shine bright, while peach and pear-like flavors mingle in the background, as Brettanomyces and Lactobacillus create the tie that binds all the components. The end result is a complex ale that is playfully sour, light, and refreshing. ABV 6.8%
Prop Culture- We experimented with PROPagating different combinations of Belgian yeast CULTUREs and blending them in specific primary and secondary fermentations. We let the Saccharomyces cultures do the heavy lifting by converting the bulk of the wort sugars while the Brettanomyces cultures did the fine tuning to round out the flavor profile. The result of our experimentation led to PROP CULTURE, a project of 10+ yeast strains working together to create a fruit forward collage of flavors like pineapple, pear, mango, and banana balanced by a clove like spiciness. ABV 7.1%
Barrel Robber - This double IPA was aged in medium toast, new American Oak Barrels. The brew features a notorious tropical fruit hop character that tangles with hints of vanilla, dried fruit, and toasted almond from its time served in the barrel. ABV 10.3%
Drumroll -An unfiltered American Pale Ale. A bold, juicy, citrus-inspired and tropically hop forward APA that looks and tastes like pineapple, orange, mango, and grapefruit. The complex fruit character is the result of the careful combination of our favorite current crop year hops with no fruit or juice addition necessary. ABV 5.3%
Pateros Creek Brewing Co
Professor Lanatus - A salted, watermelon sour
Basil Peach - A Peach Basil Ale
Oreo Porter - Oreo cookies incorporated into a Porter
Kolsch - Description coming soon
Barrel-Aged Theobyra - American Stout infused with Ghana cacao beans from Nuance Chocolate, aged in Feisty Spirits and Old Elk Whiskey barrels, then blended. ABV 9.0%
Soul Squared Brewing Company
Soul Squared Honey Hibiscus Saison - A light, crisp, traditional farmhouse ale featuring hibiscus petals and wildflower honey sourced from Gray Family Farms. A perfect way to welcome in the summer season.
Upslope Brewing Company
Imperial IPA- This assertively hopped 10% ABV Imperial IPA captures a golden orange color with a medium body. Each barrel is brewed using six pounds of a unique blend of hops to impart subtle pineapple and melon flavors. ABV 10.0%
WeldWerks Brewing Co.
Juicy Bits IPA - A New England-style IPA featuring a huge citrus and tropical fruit hop character from the Mosaic, Citra, and El Dorado hops, a softer mouthfeel, and the characteristic New England haziness. The end result is a beer reminiscent of citrus juice with extra pulp, thus the name Juicy Bits. ABV 6.7%
Black Cherry Gose - Starting with a traditional German malt bill consisting of 50% Pilsen malt and 50% wheat malt, we then kettle sour the wort, meaning we innoculate it with lactobacillus bacteria after mashing and wort run-off, but before racking to the fermenter. A generous addition of sweet and tarty cherry complements the tartness of the base beer, and the sea salt and coriander add to the complexity. The result is a beer that is tart, dry, salty, fruity and extremely refreshing. ABV 4.2%
Zwei Brewing Co.
Drachenfutter Barrel #3 - Rum barrel aged ApriPeach ale. ABV 9+%
