Thousands of strands of holiday lights will illuminate historic Downtown Fort Collins as we "flip the switch" at the annual Downtown Holiday Lighting Ceremony. This year’s lighting effort continues it's commitment to being green. LED light strands are used exclusively in this year’s display which will be in place from November 4 - February 14 (approximately). LED light strands lead to power savings of about 90% over standard lights.
The ceremony will be held at Oak Street Plaza located at Oak St. and College Ave. The evening begins at 5:30pm with music and complimentry cookies and hot cocoa. Then at 6:30pm, we will turn on all the lights in downtown. People can enjoy the holiday lights from anywhere along College Avenue beginning at Laporte Avenue and continuing to Magnolia Street.
Trees will be lit along Walnut Ave, Linden St., Pine St., Old Town Square, Oak Street Plaza, and Mountain Ave. The lighting project is a joint endeavor between the Downtown Fort Collins Business Association, The Downtown Development Authority and the City of Fort Collins.
Downtown will also host the First Friday featuring Gallery Walk on the evening of November 4th. This event showcases local galleries, artists and art shows. The Fort Collins Gallery Walk is located throughout Downtown Fort Collins including over 20 fine art galleries and attracts hundreds of people from around the Northern Colorado region.
